    Who will be my guide?

On this trip, you will be traveling with us — Dominik & Josefine — the travel couple behind Trail to Adventures. Dom is Canadian and Jo is Danish and for the past 7 years we have been traveling full time, living in over 5 countries and traveling to 4 different continents.

We first went to Madeira in February 2022 and fell completely in love with the island. We did some incredible tours and hikes, connected with locals, and had the most amazing time.

Before we even left the island, we knew we were going to come back and that we just had to share the beauty of Madeira with others – because beauty like this has to be shared. That’s how Trail to Adventures was born.

For the entire duration of this trip, we will be with you as your guides, friends, and photographers to make sure you have the best possible trip. But we won’t be your only guides!

For the hiking, we have hired a family-owned tour company to take us on the most beautiful trails and teach us about the island, the flora & fauna, and show us the best of the best! This tour company is the one we used when we were in Madeira and we know how incredible they are.

We have also hired a local guide to help us organize everything and to ensure we support local businesses along the way.

Last but not least, we’ve hired a local chef to guide our tastebuds in the right direction 😉

    How much does it cost?

The trip costs $2600 for 12 days (food, experiences + accommodation). Prices are in USD.

To secure your spot, a non-refundable deposit of $500 is made upon reservation.

The $500 is a part of your total payment of $2600.

    Are payment plans available?

Yes, payment plans are available for this trip.

You can decide to pay in 1, 2, or 3 instalments.

    • 1 instalment: $500 + $2100
    • 2 instalments: $500 + 2 x $1050
    • 3 instalments: $500 + 3 x $700

Do I get a private room?

The rooms are semi-private. There will be 2 people in each room and there are both single and double beds available.

If you travel with a friend or partner, you will share a room and a discount is available for you.

    Is food & drinks included?

Breakfast, lunch & dinner is all included. The dinner will be prepared by our own private chef, ordered at a local restaurant, or cooked by yours truly!

Water, tea & coffee, juice, and wine tasting are included in the trip.

Any additional drinks not mentioned above won’t be provided by us but you’re welcome to go out and buy some if you want.

Do I have to be in good shape to do this?

It is recommended that you are in somewhat good shape by the time you get to Madeira.

About half of our hikes will be on pretty flat ground without a lot of elevation -the other half will be more challenging.

On the few hikes that are more challenging, we will have time to take breaks, enjoy the views, and have lunch.

What if I don’t have anyone to go with?

You don’t have to sign up with anyone to join this retreat! If you’re thinking of signing up on your own DO IT!

We will be spending so much time together during the trip that we will all be friends in no time.

+ You will be sharing a room with one of the other participants so you won’t feel lonely at all.

If you’re considering signing up on your own, we highly encourage you to go for it 🙂

    Are flights included?

Since all participants of this retreat will be coming from different countries and airports, flights are not included in the price.

We are more than happy to help you find your flights but the flights are not included in the price of the trip.

Please note that we will need at least 5 bookings for the trip to move forward. For that reason, wait to buy your flights until this minimum threshold has been met. We will let you know as soon as 5 spots have been booked!

    Do I need travel insurance?

To participate in this trip, we require that you have travel insurance.

Unexpected things can happen anytime anywhere and sometimes things don’t go as planned.

We want to make sure you have the best possible time and that you are protected during the trip. So yes, you will need to get travel insurance.

    Is Madeira safe?

Madeira, and Portugal in general, is considered very safe!

We’ve spent over 2 months on the island and not once did we feel unsafe.

If you have any questions or concerns about the safety here, please reach out to us.
